Die Kirche von Canons Ashby enthält eine Reihe schöner Grabmonumente
wie das von John Turner Dryden, 8th Bart.:
He
departed this life at a premature age, after a rapid decline
attended with great sufferings, upon Easter day in the year One
Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Seven, leaving a Widow and eldest
Son to lament unceasingly his loss and to remember with gratitude
his Virtues.
As a grateful but inadequate memorial of his tenderness and
affection this Monument to his beloved memory is erected by his
disconsolate Widow and affectionate Son.
On
some fond breast the parting Soul relies;
Some Pious drops the closing Eye requires;
Even from the Tomb the voice of nature cries.
Even in our Ashes live their wonted fires.
